§ Mr. Heathasked the Prime Minister whether it is proposed that a gift should be presented by the Government to mark Nauru's attainment of independence on 31st January.
§ The Prime MinisterThe whole House, will, I feel sure, wish to send warm congratulations to Nauru on Independence, together with best wishes for the happiness and prosperity of the people of the Island. Her Majesty's Government have decided to offer a suitable gift to mark this happy occasion. It will be presented by Sir Charles Johnston, the British High Commissioner in Canberra, who will represent the British Government at the Independence Ceremonies.
