HC Deb 26 February 1968 vol 759 cc228-9W
58. Mr. Longden

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what initiative he proposes to take in the light of the proposals of Herr Majonica, a copy of which has been sent to him, that Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy should invite all European countries except France to form a political community with the aim of gradually achieving solidarity in all international questions; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. George Brown

We have already accepted the Benelux proposals which also cover political consultation, and we want to progress along those lines. I do not, therefore, propose to take any special initiative on Herr Majonica's proposals.
