HC Deb 21 February 1968 vol 759 c118W
Mr. Wall

asked the Minister of Transport what action she is taking outside the Greater London area to prevent parking outside schools.

Mr. Carmichael

The Traffic Signs Regulations prescribe an advisory road marking to indicate to drivers the part of the carriageway outside schools which should be kept clear of stationary vehicles. Because it has been found that drivers are not observing this marking, an improved form is to be tried out at a number of sites both inside and outside London. If successful, it will be prescribed in Regulations.

In the meantime there is nothing to prevent local authorities from imposing waiting restrictions at any site where there are special difficulties.
