§ Mr. Peter Walkerasked the Minister of Transport if she will make studies to see what advantages and disadvantages have arisen from the European practice of allowing persons aged 15 years to ride mopeds of 50 cubic centimetres and below.
§ Mr. CarmichaelWe keep a constant watch on international road accident statistics, including those relating to mopeds. European age limits for riding these machines vary from country to country and if there were evidence that a minimum age lower than our own had cut road casualties we would naturally be prepared to mount a special study on the lines the hon. Member suggests. There are, however, no plans for this at present.
