asked the Minister of Overseas Development what requests for medical aid have been made to his Department since the start of the Vietnam war by the Government of North Vietnam.

Mr. Prentice

No such requests have been received.

Mrs. Ewing

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what amount of medical aid has been given to Vietnam in each year since the Vietnam war started, stating in each case the amount given to North and South Vietnam, respectively.

Approximate disbursements of medical aid supplied by Her Majesty's Government in response to requests from the Government of South Vietnam are as follows:

and estimates for 1968–69 329,000

No medical aid has been provided to the Government of North Vietnam nor have any requests been received.

The figures given exclude any medical assistance provided by British non-Governmental sources to South Vietnam or North Vietnam or both.
