HC Deb 09 December 1968 vol 775 cc11-2W
33. Mr. Gardner

asked the Minister of Transport, if he will refuse his consent to any further withdrawals of railway passenger services in the Nottingham area pending a special study of present and future public transport needs in the area.

Mr. Carmichael

No. We are satisfied that we now have sufficient information to take an early decision on the proposal to close the line to Rugby. My hon. Friend will know from the reply to the hon. Member for Sudbury and Wood-bridge (Mr. Stainton) on 15th November that we have decided to grant-aid all the other unremunerative passenger services running into Nottingham.—[Vol. 773, c. 172–80.]
