HC Deb 04 December 1968 vol 774 c482W
77. Mr. Ronald Atkins

asked the President of the Board of Trade what are the import duties on cars imported from the European Free Trade Association countries where they have been assembled entirely from parts made in non-member countries.

Mr. Dell

Cars imported into the United Kingdom are liable to duty at 17½ per cent. if the value of non-E.F.T.A. parts and materials represents more than 50 per cent. of the f.o.b. price; cars which comply with the E.F.T.A. origin rules pay no duty.
