HC Deb 04 December 1968 vol 774 c477W
Mr. Dewar

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he intends to implement the recommendations of the Thomson Committee on Scottish criminal statistics.

Mr. Ross

I am glad to have this opportunity to express my appreciation of the work of the Scottish Departmental Committee on Criminal Statistics, under the chairmanship of Lord Thomson. Since their recommendations involve basic changes in the existing system, which has been in use for more than forty years, I cannot at this stage be specific about the extent or timing of their implementation, which would involve a considerable expenditure of staff time.
