§ Mrs. Ewingasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give an estimate of the cost to ratepayers in Scotland of the payments authorised to contractors to local authorities by the Scottish Development Department in terms of Circular No. 39/1966 in respect of claims for repayment of Selective Employment Tax.
§ Mr. RossBecause of the variety of grant arrangements which apply to different kinds of work, the cost to ratepayers of these payments cannot be ascertained or even estimated.
