I am unable to estimate the total expenditure by police authorities on unit beat policing systems for the years 1967–68 and 1968–69, but it is considerably in excess of the sums provided for in the Civil Estimates, which relate only to advances made to assist a minority of police authorities who had inadequate provision in their estimates for 1967–68.
