HC Deb 11 April 1968 vol 762 c291W
Mr. Wall

asked the Minister of Overseas Development what action he is taking to investigate the low valuations in the current 400,000 acre resettlement scheme in Kenya.

Mr. Oram

I have no evidence to show that the valuations are not in accordance with the memorandum of understanding agreed between the British and Kenya Governments, i.e. they are based on current market values. However, since the market, particularly for large farms, is somewhat restricted, a British Government valuer has recently been to Kenya to discuss the position with Kenya Government valuers, and I await his report.
