HL Deb 10 April 1968 vol 291 c464WA
LORD BROCKWAY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What action can be taken to deport a person who may fail to comply with residential conditions, but who has entered this country legally and has subsequently become Stateless.

LORD STONHAM

Statelessness is not necessarily a bar to deportation. The circumstances in which a person may become Stateless are various; and the question whether his Statelessness will affect his returnability to his former country, or his admissibility to some other country, will depend on the particular facts. It follows that I cannot helpfully answer a question in general terms, but my noble friend will no doubt let me know if he has a particular case in mind.

House adjourned at half past nine o'clock for the Easter Recess.
