HC Deb 05 April 1968 vol 762 c161W
Mr. Roy Hughes

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will now make a statement about the future location of the Census Office.

Mr. Crosland

Yes, After considering the changes in the work of the Census Office that are likely to be needed to provide an improved flow of statistical information, and the timing dictated by the immediately foreseeable pattern of Census work, the Government have decided that the Census Office should move to a new location in Newport, Mon., as soon as practicable, which I expect will be in the mid 1970s.
