HC Deb 05 April 1968 vol 762 c160W
Mr. Whitaker

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement on the effects on British car exports to the United States of America of the introduction of the new safety regulations drawn up by the United State,, Traffic Safety Agency, details of which are in his possession.

Mrs. Gwyneth Dunwoody

Difficulties arose in modifying certain models to comply with these regulations and some sales may have been lost in consequence. These difficulties have now been overcome and I understand that the industry does not expect to suffer any further loss of sales on this account.
