HC Deb 04 April 1968 vol 762 c132W
42. Mr. G. Campbell

asked the Minister of Transport what representations she has received from regional planning councils about the effects of the Transport Bill in their areas.

Mr. John Morris

We have received representations from one Economic Planning Council about the wear and tear charge and I know that others were concerned about this and the abnormal loads charge. As the hon. Member knows, we are not proceeding with either of these charges.

43. Mr. G. Campbell

asked the Minister of Transport what representations she has received from trade and industry expressing opposition to the Transport Bill or concern about its effects.

Mr. John Morris

We have received many representations from those engaged in trade and industry expressing opposition to those features of the Bill which they believe will adversely affect them, but my right hon. Friend still believes that her proposals are right, especially as we have also had many letters welcoming the Bill in whole or in part.
