HC Deb 01 April 1968 vol 762 cc34-5W
Mr. G. Johnson Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what proportion of positive breath tests taken under the Road Safety Act to the latest available date has resulted in negative blood or urine tests.

Mr. Taverne

From 9th October to 31st January, 5,048 roadside breath tests in England and Wales were adjudged positive. Laboratory specimens were provided in 4,038 cases, in 673 of which the analyst reported a blood-alcohol concentration below the prescribed level. These figures exclude hospital patients for whom the figures are not available.
