§ Mr. HattersleyEmployment estimates are compiled annually for local areas but they are insufficiently precise to measure relatively small changes from one year to another. Bearing this qualification in mind, the numbers of employees in employment in the area covered by the Arbroath and Carnoustie Employment Exchanges at June, 1964, and June, 1966 (the latest date for which information is available) were estimated to be 10,100 (6,500 males and 3,600 females) and 9,800 (6,100 males and 3,700 females) respectively.
