HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 cc314-5W
Mr. Alison

asked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs what estimate he has made of the levels of unemployment in the development areas which will finally result from the regional employment premia and other analogous measures of differential regional assistance.

Mr. Alan Williams

Our approximation would be that the total effect of all present measures over a period of years should be to reduce the margin between average unemployment in the Development Areas and in the rest of the country by appreciably over one-half.
