HC Deb 21 November 1967 vol 754 c305W
Sir C. Osborne

asked the Minister of Power if he is aware that British steel shipbuilding plates are sold overseas for £35 a ton and at the same time a price of £42 a ton is imposed on the home market; from what funds this subsidy of £7 a ton to foreign shipbuilders is paid; and if he will issue a direction to the Steel Corporation to stop this policy which handicaps British shipbuilding firms, and worsens the balance of payments problem.

Mr. Marsh

I would refer the hon. Member to my reply to my hon. Friend the Member for South Shields (Mr. Blenkinsop) on 7th November.—[Vol. 753, c. 810.]
