HC Deb 20 November 1967 vol 754 cc223-4W
39. Mr. Brooks

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what discussions have taken place with the Federal Government of Germany regarding East Germany's diplomatic and trading status with Great Britain following Great Britain's accession to the European Economic Community.

Mr. Mulley

None.

72. Mr. Gresham Cooke

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, with a view to increasing the flow of trade with the German Democratic Republic, he will lessen the passport restrictions on those coming to this country from East Germany, particularly the checking and time taken by the Allied Travel Bureau.

Mr. Mulley

No. The Allied Travel Office procedure, which is of course a matter for the French and United States Governments as well as ourselves, works well and has not prevented a satisfactory development of our trade with East Germany.
