asked the Minister of Social Security what is the total administrative cost of collecting Selective Employment Tax to date.

As the Selective Employment Tax is collected along with the other components of the National Insurance stamp, it is not possible to measure separately the cost of collecting this tax. It is, however, estimated that the increases in administrative costs which could be attributed to the addition of the tax to the National Insurance stamp amount so far to about £850,000 at the outside.
