HC Deb 15 November 1967 vol 754 c117W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Minister of Transport what proposals are under consideration to introduce administrative machinery to rationalise responsibility, at present shared by the Ministry of Defence and British Railways, for the maintenance of certain public roads in the Pirbright area.

Mr. Carmichael

So far as I am aware, no proposals are currently under consideration. Certain roads used by the public in the Pirbright area are owned partly by the Ministry of Defence and partly by British Rail but their maintenance is the responsibility of the Ministry of Defence. Any change in the present arrangements would be a matter for negotiation between the Ministry of Defence, British Rail and Surrey County Council as the local highway authority.
