HC Deb 15 November 1967 vol 754 cc117-8W
Sir Clive Bossom

asked the Minister of Transport what arrangements are being made by her Department to study the benefits resulting from the installation of lighting on the Hendon Way section of the M1 motorway and on the section of the M4 motorway leading to London Airport.

Mr. Carmichael

Data are being collected with a view to assessing the benefits of both installations. Reliable comparisons may however be difficult to make. The Hendon Urban Motorway was lit right from the start. As for M4 to London Airport other changed factors such as the installation of crash barriers and the introduction of the breathalyser tests may make it difficult to isolate the effect of the lighting installation.
