HC Deb 15 November 1967 vol 754 cc153-4W
Mr. Lubbock

asked the Minister of Power what consultations he has had with interested bodies concerning the efficiency of the supply of fuels, and with what result; and if he will give general directions to the nationalised fuel industries to increase their contributions to bodies whose object is to inform the public on the efficient use of all methods of heating.

Mr. Marsh

Efficiency of supply is of constant concern to the fuel industries and I keep in touch with them about it. As regards coal distribution, I am awaiting a report by the Coal Merchants' Federation and the National Coal Board on pilot surveys into rationalisation on the lines suggested by the National Board for Prices and Incomes in their report on Coal Distribution Costs (Cmnd. 3094).

The nationalised fuel and power industries already devote substantial sums to the provision of various advisory services to the public and I see no reason to give general directions.
