§ Mr. Roy JenkinsDuring 1966, there were 706 prosecutions in England and Wales for exceeding the 70 m.p.h. speed limit on motorways. There were 689 convictions; a fine was imposed in each case.
During the first six months of this year there were 517 prosecutions: there were 505 convictions, fines being imposed in all except one.
