HC Deb 09 November 1967 vol 753 c145W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Postmaster-General when the hon. Member for Huddersfield, West can expect to be informed of the decision on the question of radio licences for students living away from home, which has been the subject of correspondence with the Department of Education and Science since April of this year.

Mr. Edward Short

I am sorry for the delay in replying to my hon. Friend. Providing their parents hold the appropriate Broadcast Receiving Licence I am now prepared to regard the use of portable sound radio sets by students who are living away at school or college as covered by that licence. I shall be changing the wording of the ordinary Broadcast Receiving Licence at the next convenient reprint to make this clear.
