§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many cases of unlicensed vehicles have been reported in the Metropolitan Police area by the hon. Member for West Ham, North, during the past two years; in how many cases prosecution has ensued; and why prosecutions are still outstanding and vehicles are still unlicensed as long as 12 months after the first report and after as many as six subsequent reports; and what action he proposes to expedite police prosecutions.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsMy hon. Friend has written to me about apparently unlicensed vehicles at least 50 times during the period he mentions. Information from him has been passed by the Metropolitan police to the vehicle licensing authorities. Subsequent action, as my hon. Friend knows, is a matter for those authorities.
