§ 71. Sir Knox Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Commonwealth Affairs if he will declare Mr Simbule, Zambian High Commissioner designate to the United Kingdom, persona non grata, in view of the statement made by him in Dar-es-Salaam denigrating Great Britain.
§ Mr. George ThomasOn receipt of Press reports of Mr. Simbule's alleged remarks in Dar-es-Salaam, Her Majesty's Government sought clarification from the Zambian Government and are still in communication with them. As the House will understand, I prefer not to comment further on this subject at present.
