HC Deb 21 March 1967 vol 743 cc231-2W
61. Mr. Blenkinsop

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he will ask the National Parks Commission to consider a realignment of the route of the Pennine Way in Northumberland between Brown Rigg Head and Byrness in Upper Redesdale, in view of repeated complaints of the Ramblers Association and other interested bodies.

Mr. Willey

No. The length of path in question here is about five miles out of the 250 miles long Pennine Way. It was acceptable to the National Parks Commission and although it had not the unqualified support of the Ministry's Inspector my right hon. Friend does not see any reason at this stage to seek to upset the decision taken by the Minister of Housing and Local Government in 1964.
