HC Deb 09 March 1967 vol 742 c337W
63. Mr. Hamling

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will make a further report on the imposition of sanctions on the illegal régime in Rhodesia.

Mr. George Brown

As my right hon. Friend informed the House on 27th February the Secretary-General's first report to the Security Council on the progress of implementation of the resolution of 16th December was circulated on 24th February. The Secretary-General's request for information on the measures taken was addressed to all states members of the United Nations and of the Specialised Agencies. Of the 72 States which have so far replied, the great majority have reported that they have taken measures which they consider necessary in order to comply with the provisions of the resolution; several States indicated that they had initiated or were initiating legislative action necessary to ensure full compliance. I have arranged for a copy of the report to be placed in the Library.—[Vol. 742, c.63.]
