47. Mr. Weatherill

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will undertake that the pay award of 7 per cent. agreed by the National Joint Council for Local Authority Fire Brigades and due to come into effect on 1st August, 1966, will be able to be honoured, that it may be back-dated to 1st March, 1967, and that those who have retired since 1st August, 1966, may have the increase reflected in their pension rates.

There was no such agreement. The fire service claim has been referred to the National Board for Prices and Incomes and I am awaiting their recommendations.
