HC Deb 02 March 1967 vol 742 cc152-3W
Mr. William Edwards

asked the Prime Minister (1) if he will define Ministerial responsibility for the Welsh tourist industry;

(2) whether, in view of the importance of the tourist industry to Wales and the need to develop this industry, he will give to the Secretary of State for Wales responsibility for the promotion and development of the industry.

The Prime Minister

Through the Wales Tourist Board, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales is, with the other interests represented on the Board, already responsible for promoting the development of the tourist trade in Wales. He is directly responsible for a number of functions affecting the tourist trades, including planning, environmental services, roads and National Parks, and he exercises a general supervision of the execution within Wales of the national policies of other Departments which might affect the Welsh tourist industry.
