HC Deb 24 July 1967 vol 751 cc32-3W
Sir W. Teeling

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps he has taken, and is taking, to obtain a settlement of the Bulgarian debts to this country.

Mr. William Rodgers

Certain United Kingdom claims against Bulgaria were settled by the Financial Agreement of the 22nd September, 1955, between the two Governments.

No acceptable offer was made in respect of the Bulgarian External Sterling Bonded Debt, which was therefore excluded from the financial settlement and remains in default, but we have in mind to take apposite steps when the prospect for progress improves.
