§ 40. Mr. Ian Gilmourasked the Postmaster-General why written evidence was submitted by his Department to the Radcliffe Committee, pages 36 and 42 of the Report, which is in conflict with the oral evidence that is to be found on pages 130 and 187 of the Report.
§ Mr. Edward ShortThe written evidence submitted to the Radcliffe Committee, recorded on pages 36 and 42 of the report, accorded with the facts as understood by the Post Office when it prepared the memorandum of 1st March but in giving oral evidence on 14th March (Report page 130) the Post Office spokesman disclosed that he had told Mr. Pincher informally more than he had recorded in the official papers on which the memorandum of 1st March was based. This further information was not known to the Government on 16th March when the evidence recorded on page 187 was taken.
