HC Deb 04 July 1967 vol 749 c241W
Mr. John Robertson

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will make a statement about the future location of the Patent Office.

Mr. Jay

I have re-examined with my colleagues concerned the arguments put to us, for and against the dispersal of the Office to a site within one hour's travelling time of central London. We have come to the conclusion that the very real advantages of a move to such a position are, on balance, outweighed by the advantages of a location in central London. I have accordingly decided that the Patent Office should remain in its present accommodation.
