HC Deb 25 January 1967 vol 739 c289W
Mr. Lomas

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he has now completed his consideration of the possibility of introducing legislation to compel manufacturers to show on tinned foods a date of expiry after which the contents should no longer be used.

Mr. Hoy

As my hon. Friend will be aware from my right hon. Friend's reply to a previous Question by him, the Food Standards Committee in its Report on Food Labelling took the view that such a requirement would not be practicable. He hopes in the reasonably near future to complete consideration of this and other questions raised in connection with his proposals for new regulations on food labelling.—[Vol. 727, c. 1856.]
