§ 91. Mr. Kimballasked the Minister of Transport if she will give the total estimated expenditure under the rolling road programme for the five years ending 1970–71 and the year ending 1971–72.
§ Mrs. CastleI cannot yet announce the exact expenditure figures for these years. However, as promised yesterday, I have today announced a list of local authority principal road schemes which should be ready to start around 1971 and I intend to publish shortly the titles of a much larger number of urban schemes to be put in preparation now for further extensions of the 1970s programme.
For trunk roads I hope to announce next month a very considerable addition to the large number of schemes already in preparation; these are intended for the early 1970s programme. All this amounts to a very large volume of work for these years.
