HC Deb 25 January 1967 vol 739 cc264-5W
65. Mr. Judd

asked the Minister of Transport whether, in view of the nine deaths caused by accidents on Eastern Road, Portsmouth, during 1966, she will reconsider her decision not to impose a 40 miles per hour speed limit.

Mr. John Morris

The location of accidents on this road suggests that the improvement of junctions is the right means for increasing safety and not the imposition of an overall speed limit. Traffic signals are already being erected at three junctions. In the light of their operation the whole position will be reviewed.
