asked the Minister of Transport whether she will now authorise the carrying out of the sodium lighting scheme proposed for the Colney Heath Lane and Smallford Lane junctions with the A405 north orbital road, St. Albans.

No. The improvement which is now to be made to the A405 at this point should substanitally reduce accident hazards. Owing to the limitation of funds, we cannot at present approve the lighting scheme as well as the road improvement.
