HC Deb 25 January 1967 vol 739 c302W
Mr. John Wells

asked the Minister of Labour, what economies have been made in his Department since 20th July, 1966, in expenditure on hospitality and official entertainment.

Mr. Gunter

There is rigorous control at all times of every item of expenditure of this kind. In the second half of 1966 there was a considerable increase in the numbers of overseas delegations for whom a measure of hospitality is a normal courtesy, but the total expenditure on entertainment at home and abroad has been reduced during this period by about one-third compared with the second half of 1965.
