HC Deb 21 February 1967 vol 741 c256W
Mr. Jopling

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what information he has on the incidence of brucellosis in cattle in Westmorland.

Mr. John Mackie

Brucellosis is not a notifiable disease and I regret I have no precise information on its incidence in any particular county. Some farmers in Westmorland have had brucellosis tests carried out at our veterinary investigation centre at Penrith. The results while not necessarily representative show no great difference from those of the recent national blood survey. They do not show the incidence of the disease since it is impossible to distinguish vaccinal reactors from others.
