HC Deb 15 February 1967 vol 741 c110W
83. Mr. Bryant Godman Irvine

asked the Secretary of State for Defence on what terms H.M.S. "Greetham" and "Harp-ham" were made available to the Libyan Government; what has been the annual cost of the naval mission to Libya since November, 1962; and for what period it is expected this arrangement will continue.

Mr. Healey

H.M. Ships "Greetham" and "Harpham", which had been on loan to the Libyan Government since 1962, were presented to them as a gift in March, 1966. The average annual cost of the British Naval Mission has been £54,000. The arrangement is likely to continue for some time.
