HC Deb 14 February 1967 vol 741 cc77-8W
Mr. Fletcher

asked the Minister of Labour what lodging and other allowances will be available to indentured apprentices at present employed at Darlington Forge Limited who will become unemployed as a result of the proposed closure of the firm; and if arrangements will be made for them to continue their apprenticeship with other firms.

Mr. Fernyhough

Our officers are continuing to make every effort to place the apprentices with firms with whom they can continue their training, and to date 15 apprentices have been placed in their own or comparable training trades. Those who have to leave home for this purpose will be able to apply for a weekly maintenance allowance and certain other benefits under the Training Allowances Scheme.
