HC Deb 02 February 1967 vol 740 c157W
Mr. Judd

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will ensure that, as the result of current police force amalgamations, no existing city or urban drug squads will be dispersed in predominantly rural forces.

Mr. Roy Jenkins

The object of amalgamations is to establish police forces of a size most likely to achieve full efficiency over the whole of their areas. The organisation of a particular force is the responsibility of its chief officer but I have every confidence that proper arrangements will be made for drug squads where they are required in amalgamated forces.
