HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 cc539-40W
Mr. Stratton Mills

asked the Minister of Transport if she will give a general direction to British Railways not to interfere with travel between Great Britain and Northern Ireland without full consultation with the Northern Ireland Government.

Sir Knox Cunningham

asked the Minister of Transport if she will give British Railways a general direction that in future they shall not refuse to issue tickets to, and carry as passengers, British subjects who wish to travel between Great Britain and Northern Ireland on ships with passenger accommodation available.

Mr. Carmichael:

No. My right hon. Friend must leave the Railways Board to assess the circumstances in deciding whether to make temporary adjustments in the services which they provide. I am sure the Board will bear in mind the need for full consultation.
