HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 c540W

asked the Minister of Transport if she will list the decisions made to close railways in Wales from April, 1962 until 15th October, 1964; and how many miles of line these decisions covered.

Mr. E. Rowlands

asked the Minister of Transport what was the mileage of railways in Wales approved for closure in the last two full months preceding 15th October 1964; and how this compares with the three years following that date.

Mr. Carmichael:

During the two months immediately preceding 15th October, 1964, consent was given to the withdrawal of passenger services from 190 miles of railway in Wales. During the three years since 15th October, 1964 there have been no consents to rail passenger closures in Wales.
