Mr. Biggs-Davison

asked the Prime Minister what additions have been made to the official staff of No. 10, Downing Street since October, 1964, and for what purposes; and what reductions are to be made in view of the need for public economy.

Thirteen extra staff are employed mainly in clerical and typing grades. Every effort is made to keep staff numbers to the minimum and the increase is significantly less than would be justified on a statistical comparison of work done.
