HC Deb 14 December 1967 vol 756 cc193-4W
33. Mr. Boston

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied that the present legislation and penalties are adequate to deal with hooligans who cause damage when travelling as passengers on trains and other forms of public transport; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Callaghan:

I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply which I gave to his Question on 1st December.—[Vol. 755, c.190–1.]

41. Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what action was taken by the Metropolitan Police to arrest those responsible for violence and damage to a train from Manchester which arrived at Euston Station during the weekend 25th-26th November.

Mr. Callaghan:

It is for the British Transport police to deal with these deplorable incidents, though the local police are always willing to help on request. The Metropolitan police were not asked to help on this occasion.
