HC Deb 14 December 1967 vol 756 cc203-4W
66. Mr. Willey

asked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs if he will make a statement on the progress of the mini-work programme authorised for the North-East Development Area.

Mr. Frederick Lee:

The work is going ahead as fast as possible and the whole of the £7 million for the Northern Region has now been committed.

67. Mr. Frederick Willy

asked the Secretary of State for Economic Affairs if he will make a further statement on the implementation of the recommendations of the Northern Economic Planning Council's Regional Study.

Mr. Frederick Lee:

As I informed hon. Members on 16th November, certain of the recommendations addressed to Government are already being implemented. Others will be implemented when national resources permit. Meanwhile, we have recently taken comprehensive measures which will greatly strengthen the long-term economy of the region.—[Vol. 754 c. 621.]
