§ Mr. Peter Walkerasked the Minister of Transport what action she proposes to take, in view of the difficulties of lorry owners in obtaining the necessary conversion kits that are required to enable their vehicles to reach the standard required by the forthcoming regulations.
§ Mrs. Castle:I assume the hon. Member is referring to the brake conversion kits some lorries will need if their braking efficiencies are to comply with the standards which come into force on 1st January next. The regulations laying 219W down the standards were made over a year ago and there should not be substantial supply difficulties. I will take up with the manuafacturers specific difficulties brought to my notice.
